Norway: Fixing Responsibility of Christian Extremism

While in the last few years, the reports of Norwegian Police Security Service have repeatedly been warning about the dangers, posed by the radical Islamic groups, opposed to Norway’s military involvement in Afghanistan and Libya, but on July 22 this year, the twin terror-attacks in Oslo which killed 92 persons surprised the country as well as whole the Western World.

The Norwegian man Anders Behring Breivik, a right-wing fundamentalist Christian, who admitted these attacks was obsessed with what he saw as the threats of multiculturalism and Muslim immigration—left behind a detailed online manifesto, calling for a Christian war to defend Europe against the threat of Muslim domination. He claimed to be part of a small group that intended to “seize political and military control of Western European countries and to implement a cultural conservative political agenda.”

While taking cognizance of the Norwegian incident, Western media pointed out the existence of Christian extremists, while some called it Christian terrorism.

Question arises who are responsible for Christian extremism? It needs an appropriate analysis so that American and European policy makers could change their ill-conceived policies, grasping reality.

It is mentionable that in the US Jews who control the media and every successive administration due to their strong financial position and influece, shape the internal and external policies of the country. In collusion with some Indians, they manipulated the September 11 tragedy against the Muslims, and to fulfill their collective designs against Pakistan, Palestine and Iran including some other Islamic countries. It was owing to that exploitation that just immediately after the September11 events, the US media and the government became one, and launched an anti-Muslim campaign indicating links between those horrendous acts and the Islamic militants. Afterwards, some investigation by an independent organization had proved that Jews were behind the incident as majority of them were on leave before the catastrophe.

However, posters of the most wanted terrorists regarding the 9/11 were Arabic in appearance and all had Muslim names. There had been an organised campaign against the Muslims in the United States. Its main themes were that Islam and the Muslims were the true cause of terrorism. American TV channels packed with horrendously unattractive and bloody-minded Arab terrorists. Even the US government failed to note that whole of the Islamic community could not be held responsible for the acts of a few. Nevertheless, Indian and Israeli atrocities on the Kashmiris and Palestinians were brushed aside both by the US Administration and the media.

Anti-Muslim campaign of the US media could also be judged from an article, titled: ‘Their Target: The Modern World’, published in the special issue of American weekly, ‘Newsweek’ in which Prof. Francis Fukuyama (The author of ‘The End of History and the Last Man’) wrote, “The real enemy: radical Islamists intolerant of all diversity and dissent, have become fascists of our day and that is what we are fighting against.”

Chauvinism and extremism in Americans resulted into retaliatory attacks on Islamic centers and the Muslims in various areas. All of a sudden, everyone with the Islamic faith found himself divested of his nationality, American or otherwise, and all that mattered was his faith, his origin, his name and his attire. Moreover, arrests, detentions and harassment of the Muslims by the CIA and the FBI were other steps in that regard that still continue.

A report of the University of Michigan said on July 29, 2004 that the Muslims have experienced harassment or intimidation since 9/11. Derogatory remarks such as “go back where you come from” or “are you member of Al- Qaeda?” were common form of abuse.

Impressed by the Indo-Israeli lobbies, Bush used the sentence, ‘crusade against the evil-doers’, adding to the perception that the war against terrorism is actually a war against Islam. American unity was being projected with such force as to allow very little questioning of the US policy, which in many ways headed towards a series of unexpected events in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere.

Besides, US and NATO countries attacked Afghanistan and then without mandate of the UN Security Council, American-Anglo forces invaded Iraq. In a prolonged war of more than ten years, US-led forces killed several innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan through heavy aerial bombardment and ground shelling—and CIA-operated drone attacks continues in Pakistan intermittently. And American secret agencies tortured the Muslims in Guantanamo Bay, Abu Graid and other cells. These tactics killed innocent civilians and created massive resentment against the US and other western countries, while expanding radicalism among the young men, turning them into suicide bombers.

Such a state terrorism against the Muslims resulted into more terrorism led by the Islamic militants not only against the pro-US countries, but also against the western countries. In the aftermath of 9/11, various suicide attacks in Israel, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Spain, Britain etc., and an unending wave of the same in Iraq and Afghanistan coupled with ambush assaults have shown that the Islamic extremists have successfully rendered the power factor of the US-led NATO forces obsolete. This sort of a state terrorism has resulted into more terrorism as also noted in Uzbekistan, Nigeria, Somalia etc.

Meanwhile, NATO attack on Libya has made the matter worse. Russian leader Putin has stated that Europe was following past ‘medieval crusades’ in the Middle East.

Nonetheless, by taking advantage of the war against terrorism, a deliberate anti-Muslim campaign, launched by the Indo-Israeli lobbies, has divided the Western and Islamic nations on religious lines. In this respect, both India and Israel are still exploiting the global terrorism, created by the US-led West to fulfill their collective designs against Pakistan, Palestine, Iran and even China. Besides, American CIA, Indian RAW and Israeli Mossad which have established their tentacles in Afghanistan have also been sending highly motivated militants to Pakistan, who are committing multiple subversive acts to destabilise Pakistan which is the only ‘nuclearised’ Islamic country.

It is of particular attention that in the recent past, reprinting of the caricatures about Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and release of a Dutch film against the Holy Quran—and on March 20, 211, burning of the Holy Quran under the supervision of American pastor Terry Jones have not only indicated a deep rooted conspiracy to foil the efforts of religious understanding among the Muslims and the Christians, but have also proved the existence of Christian fundamentalists.

As regards the Indo-Israeli connivance to divide the world and to instigate the Christians, some sources suggest that Behring Breivik is pro-Israel. Besides, his message has favoured the ‘Hindu nationalism (Hindutva)—the anti-Muslim campaign of Hindu terorists parties like Sangh Parivar, RSS, BJP etc. His manifesto talks liberation of India through the right-wing Indian nationalist forces by driving out the Muslims from India.

It is mentionable that the vast catastrophe in Oslo shows that it is not the work of a single man or even two persons, a number of extremist Christians, Jews and Hindus might be behind this nature of subversive acts.

All the above mentioned developments indicate an interaction between the state terrorism led by the US-supported some western countries or NATO and the group terrorism by the Islamic radicals which has indirectly motivated the fanatic Christians who want to wage the ongoing different war on the pattern of the crusades.

Meanwhile, learning no lesson from the failed war on terror and the terror-attacks in Norway, US President Obama, after withdrawal of troops from Afghanistan, seeks to shift Afghan war to Pakistan as the blame game of the US high officials against Islamabad point outs.

Consequently, apart from some Western leaders, responsibility of Christian extremism can especially be fixed on the ex-President Bush and President Obama who have waged useless battles against the Islamic countries including war on terror on global level. America and Western media are also responsible for this negative phenomenon as they left no stone unturned in equating the acts of Al Qaeda with all the Muslims in one or the other way. Thus they provoked the Christians against the Muslims. It could be judged from the fact that even without investigation, on the first day of the Oslo incident, some American and western media had started propagating that Islamic extremists or Al Qaeda is behind the terror-events. Indo-Israeli lobbies are equally responsible in this regard.
