VIENNA, (PIC)--Friends of Humanity International called on the Egyptian authorities, on Wednesday, to facilitate the arrival of Arab business men and women to Gaza to participate in the first investment conference in Gaza.

The organization said, in a press release, that about 130 of Arab business men and women and activists from other nationalities are trying to improve the economic situation in the Gaza Strip. The Egyptian authorities have to support them to achieve their economic and humanitarian goals instead of blocking them, the organization added.

The human rights organization condemned the Egyptian government's position "who is trying to make excuses and justification for its inhumane decision which prevented the investment group from entering the besieged Gaza strip".

Friends of Humanity greeted the participants in this delegation for their noble efforts, saying that the Egyptian government has to facilitate their humanitarian mission and not prevent it from reaching Gaza.

It also condemned the Egyptian government participation in the siege imposed on people in Gaza, calling on Egyptian authorities to stop dealing with the occupation that aims to keep a million-and-a-half people in a big prison, and to facilitate the entry of medicines, food supplies, and building materials by opening the Rafah crossing and enabling people to travel freely. The organization confirmed that the restrictive measures on the movement of people and goods are a violation of international law that prohibits collective punishment.

The Egyptian authorities had prevented the delegation that was going to Rafah crossing on Sunday morning from entering Gaza despite prior coordination with the concerned Egyptian authorities and with the Palestinian ambassador in Cairo.

After a whole day on the sidewalks in Salam Bridge, the delegation was forced by the Egyptian authorities to return to Ismailya city under restrictive security measures. Responsible sources confirmed that the delegation members are retained at a hotel in Ismailya, and not allowed to leave it except to Cairo under guard.
