OCCUPIED PALESTINE, (PIC)-- More than one hundred Parliamentary and political personalities in Europe participated in an international petition that aims to activate the European political support, calling on the Israeli occupation to respect international law in treating the Palestinian prisoners in its prisons, titled "international petition in solidarity with the Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails". The petition, that aims to gather as many signatures as possible in Europe and the world in support of the Palestinian striking prisoners since 24 days, called on the international community and the EU in particular to support the prisoners' issue and to shed light on the Palestinian prisoners' suffering and to condemn the occupation’s violations against the prisoners' rights, and establish broad solidarity activities in Europe in support of the prisoners. The petition called for a European fact-finding mission to examine the Palestinian detainees' conditions in the occupation prisons and to take serious measures in coordination with the mission. It also called on the Red Cross and the human rights and humanitarian organizations and institutions to visit the prisoners in occupation prisons and examine the living conditions of the prisoners, and to pressure the occupation to stop its arbitrary measures against the Palestinian people and its systematic torture against Palestinian prisoners. The petition stressed on the need to impose punitive measures on occupation authorities if it does not observe international standards in dealing with the Palestinian people and stop violation international conventions.
