KUALA LUMPUR, (PIC)-- The Malaysian people and the Arab and foreign communities in Malaysia showed great support for the Palestinian issue during the Palestine Week event in Kuala Lumpur while a solidarity sit-in was staged in front of the UN offices.
The Palestinian Cultural Organization-Malaysia organized a sit-in in front of UN headquarters in the capital Kuala Lumpur on Friday, in solidarity with the striking prisoners in the Israeli occupation’s jails with the participation of members of the Palestinian community in Malaysia and representatives of several Malaysian institutions, associations, and non-governmental organizations.
The head of the organization, Muslim Abu Omar, and a delegation of the participants handed the UN’s Office a statement in which they called on the UN to take action to stop the Israeli practices and violations against the Palestinian prisoners in the occupation’s jails.
During the sit-in, the protestors raised photos and chanted slogans supporting the prisoners and condemning the Israeli violations, and demanded the international community and the international human rights groups to give the prisoners’ issue the deserved attention, especially after the launch of the battle of the “empty stomachs” for more than three weeks.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian students Association at the Malaysian National University (UKM) held the “Eye on Palestine” exhibition which was attended by international diplomatic figures and Malaysian partisans and national activists.
The exhibition included photos and documents on Palestinian rights, as well as models depicting the different stages of Palestinian struggle, and the “Zionist massacres and wars” waged to displace Palestinian citizens.
During the exhibition, the visitors showed a great interest in the models representing the Palestinian detainees suffering in the Israeli dungeons, and expressed their support for the prisoners’ demands.
